Academic Standards

At MVCS, we strive to serve you, the parent, in your responsibility to help your student grow in body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, we offer high academic standards with biblical integration in all of our classes, from kindergarten through high school.

Spiritual Emphasis

The faculty and staff of MVCS are committed to the spiritual growth of our students.

Each year starts with a retreat for our high school students and an activity day for our middle schoolers. Each of these events contain messages from a Bible teacher to challenge them in their daily walk with the Lord.

Students K-12 attend weekly chapels where pastors and guest speakers offer our students new and challenging perspectives on the Christian faith.

Biblical integration is a part of every course we teach. In the classrooms, hallways, and extra-curricular activities in between, we want to show our students through instruction.

At MVCS, growth in Christ is a worldview and lifestyle choice, not just a line item in our curriculum.

College Preparation

Preparing students to succeed in college has been an academic focus at MVCS from opening day in 1974. However, college preparation at MVCS goes beyond just setting high academic standards in the classroom. We offer an array of services to our families to help students succeed when they graduate.

College Guidance

MVCS’ college guidance website provides students an array of resources for considering, selecting, applying to, and paying for colleges.

ACT & SAT Preparation

Performing well on the ACT and SAT translates into wider academic opportunities and better financial support in college, which MVCS values for its students. ACT preparation is integrated into the curriculum.  MVCS also offers a course in College Planning for both juniors and seniors. In addition, our school guidance counselor is available to help students and parents understand the registration and testing process and answer any questions about the ACT or SAT.

MVCS students do well on Standardized Tests

In 2023-2024, one of our seniors  is among 16,000 high school students in America to be recognized as a qualifier for the 2024 National Merit Scholarship.

MVCS ranks in the 70th – 80th percentile on standardized tests as compared to other U.S. Christian schools

MVCS students score in the top 20th-25th percentile on the ACT in the state of New Mexico

University Selection & Scholarships

MVCS regularly brings in recruiters from Christian and secular universities from around the nation to speak to our high school students about opportunities at their institutions. In addition, the option is given for our juniors and seniors to take part in the University fair held in Las Cruces each year. We strongly encourage our students to apply for any scholarship opportunities and support them in those efforts.
