Statement of Faith

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in  the original manuscripts. (II Timothy 3:16) We believe that the Old and New Testaments not only contain  the Word of God, but are the Word of God in their entirety, and are the final authority in all subjects on  which they speak. (II Peter1:21)

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-19, Mark 12:29, John 1:4, Acts 5:3, 4.)

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, (Matthew 1:20-23) and is true God and true Man. (John 1:1, 14)

We believe that man was created in the image of God, (Genesis 1:26), that he sinned and thereby incurred  not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God (Genesis 2:17, 3:6); that all  human beings are born with a sinful nature, and are sinners in thought, word, and deed. (Romans 5:12)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and for the sins of the whole world (I John 2:2),  was buried and bodily rose from the dead according to the Scriptures. (I Corinthians 15:1-4) We believe  that He died as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified  by grace based on His shed blood (John 3:16, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 7:25). We believe that those so justified  are eternally preserved through the present ministries of our risen, ascended, glorified Lord Jesus Christ  and of the Holy Spirit. (John10:27-29, Hebrews 7:25)

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of and indwelt by the Holy  Spirit and thereby become the children of God. (John 3:3, 14:16-18). We believe that regenerate man  must walk in dependence upon the Holy Spirit in order to please God. (Galatians 5:16)

We believe in “that blessed hope” the personal return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (John 14:1-3, I  Thessalonians 4:13-18) and in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of  the just, and the everlasting punishment of the unjust. (I Corinthians 15:51-52, Revelation. 20:11-15)

We believe that the Church, composed of all those who truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as their  Savior, is the Body and Bride of Christ. We believe that Christ is head of the Body, the Church:  (Ephesians 1:22-5:22, I Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4:3) that all believers are baptized into the Body of  Christ by the Holy Spirit, and having thus become members of one another, we are responsible to keep  the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman, (Genesis  2:18-25), and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union. (I Corinthians 7:2,  Hebrews 13:4)

MVCS is an independent, Protestant, evangelical K-12 Christian school founded in the theologically conservative  roots of denominations such as most Presbyterian and Baptist churches of our community.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: MVCS is accredited through the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS) and recognized by the State of New Mexico as an accredited school. MVCS full-time faculty maintain certification through the AACS and many also with the State of New Mexico. For a teacher to earn AACS certification, they must complete all the typical requirements that the state requires and take course work in the Christian philosophy of education as well as Bible classes.

A: At MVCS, we consider God’s Word (Bible) to be central in our school and the student’s classroom. Since 1974 our school has continually operated under the guidance of God’s Word and His hand of provision on our campus. Every student from grades K-12 has a daily Bible class as part of the core curriculum taught by experienced Bible teachers who have a passion for imparting God’s Word to young people. The development of a Christian worldview into all aspects of the student’s education is a core value of MVCS.

A: This ratio varies depending upon grade levels, yet a typical elementary class is approximately 18:1 while the typical secondary class is 20:1. Specialty classes such as band and choir may be more, while upper-level electives such as  Calculus, Physics, and Spanish IV may be far less

A: Parents are not only able but strongly encouraged to take an active role in their child’s education at MVCS. This can be done by helping out as a “classroom mom or dad,” helping with elementary reading groups, chaperoning field trips, assisting with fundraisers, working with such annual events as Track & Field Day (May), Dad’s Day (Fall), or Grandparent’s Day (Fall). In addition, parents have the opportunity every August to sign up for a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at the school.

A: We believe that education must be conducted within the context of our Christian faith and commitment. God places special responsibilities on us as parents, which can be met only through Christian education. Because our children are gifts of the Lord, we must proceed in faith to educate and prepare them to live the Christian life under God, with others, in the world. In Christian schools, students learn to look at the world through the lens of the Bible. They develop a Christian worldview and gain a desire to transform the world. The groundwork is laid for God to use later in their lives to extend His kingdom. Here, students learn that God uniquely gifts them to serve Him, and they learn to listen for God’s direction  in the use of these gifts.
